Estell Warren and Bauman Lyons Architects formed a joint design team to help East Riding of Yorkshire Council deliver this major seafront scheme. The Spa is a popular regional venue for conferences, concerts and even World Darts, set within the famous seaside town of Bridlington on the East Yorkshire coast.
A series of distinct places are proposed around the Spa including Spa Plaza, South Marine Drive, Pembroke Gardens and South Foreshore Banks create a setting for the building and changing experiences for visitors and residents. The design picks up on both the building uses (with an LED ‘red carpet’ at the main entrance, and rhythmic ‘board’ pattern on the adjoining promenade) and natural setting (with flowing lines of paving, objects and trees abstracted from waves moving up and down the sandy beach).
