Estell Warren was appointed as lead consultant for the masterplanning of the 4.8ha Courthouse Campus site, the largest development site remaining in Barnsley town centre.  Place making forms the heart of the proposals with a series of streets, spaces and range of uses tying the site into the adjoining town centre and providing new facilities for people, including a 1ha public park.

An extensive programme of consultation was undertaken including discussions with Council departments, adjoining business users, potential developers and the public to inform and test the emerging proposals.

The masterplan document now provides guidelines for uses, building height and massing, plot size, landscape and public realm infrastructure, energy strategy, transport and access strategy and car parking strategy.
