Estell Warren were part of a team, selected through national competition, to join The Castleford Project, an exciting joint venture between Channel 4, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council  and supporting funders.  The project follows the progress of a series of key urban renaissance initiatives; kick-starting a wider, town regeneration process. 

The Play Forest is an innovative children’s play facility designed by the practice and was the first of the schemes to be delivered through The Castleford Project.  Design proposals were developed with the community using a working model, full size setting out of the design and visits to other play projects to build capacity and knowledge of what is possible.  The unique design provides challenging play opportunities for children of all abilities and has become an iconic centrepiece of the Cutsyke area, creating a combined life size 3-D puzzle and community beacon.
