Holbeck Urban Village is a major emerging City quarter close to the centre of Leeds.  Although run down and neglected over recent years it was identified that the village had the potential to form a natural link between the City centre and outlying communities, improving opportunities for employment and creating a sense of inclusion in several deprived areas.

Estell Warren were engaged by the City Council to prepare ideas for the public realm across the whole village, with the key joint aims of encouraging developer interest and improving access and facilities for adjoining communities.  A range of design options was prepared followed by preparation of a public realm design guide for developers.  This was followed by detailed design of the public realm areas.
