Estell Warren and Arup were appointed to prepare a riverside access feasibility study for the River Don between Sheffield and Oughtibridge.  The aim of the scheme was to provide unhindered pedestrian and cycle access along the attractive river corridor to the City centre, tying in existing and emerging residential and commercial development along the way.

The 9 km scheme required careful selection and integration of new pathways through a varied landscape of urban, industrial, woodland and wildlife areas.  When completed, it will provide access to a series of fascinating cultural and ecological features that tell the story of Sheffield’s pre and post industrial legacy.

The completed scheme will form part of the National Cycle Network.
